Zugspitze via Höllental

Climbing the Zugspitze (2963m, Germany's highest mountain) via the very popular route through the Höllental, August 2015. After a short hike through the forest, the way leads through a deep and long gorge with cold water rushing in from all sides. From the upper end of the gorge, one emerges into the scenic mountain valley enclosed by steep rock faces on all sides. Easy via ferrata climbing and hiking through rubble brings us to the glacier below the peak. It can be dangerous to cross due to broad and deep crevices especially in late summer. One more long via ferrata climb finishes on the "top of Germany" with a spectacular view into the mountains in the South and the flatlands in the North.
