06. Akbük - Ören

The whole night was cool and windy, nevertheless (or maybe because of that) the sun came up red in the morning - only to disappear in the clouds for now. At least there are some blue spots in the sky, letting me hope for good weather.
Right after taking down the tent I started hiking, breakfast has to wait until I'm not freezing anymore. From my campsite, a flat spot beneath olive trees, I continue to some more similar spots (so lots of campsites up here, though sometimes puddles all around).
Following some forest tracks through the hilly landscape, I reach a small mule path branching off to the right, waiting for me with a steep climb uphill. The top offeres me a nice view over the gulf and a lot of islands or peninsulas.

A short descent later I find myself in a small valley with some crop fields. The waymarks lead me through dense shrubbery just off in the forest, while walking would be so much more easier along the corner of the fields. Whatever.
Well, at some point the markings then disappeared completely. Once again a long search starts, and after setting down my backpack and circling the area in bigger and bigger rounds, I finally find the next mark. About 150 m further down the side of the fields.  Maybe I should really take a GPS at some point :)

The rest of the hike to the town Ören is pretty unspectacular - lots and lots of pine forest, some asphalt road hiking and coal mines (for the nearby power plants). Then I finally reach the viewpoint with the ancient cistern, where I take a long lunch break with an awesome view down onto the plain.

The way down is an ancient road, zigzagging along the steep hill until I reach the beach. From there I have to walk annoying 3 kilometers into the "city center" to try to catch one of the three buses back to Akyaka, where I plan to take a day off hiking.
Shortly after noon I arrive at some place with a small store and a sign saying that the next bus leaves at 3.30 pm, so I have to kill a few hours...
After sitting around having a tea and whatever, the shop owner has to go somewhere and takes me to the actual bus station. Which is, guess what, directly near the beach where I came down on the plain... a bit hard to find though.
So sitting there for another hour, enjoying the sun and swearing at the cold wind. Plus getting a sunburn in the end.

In any case, I finally manage to get on the bus (being the only passenger) and arrive in Akyaka quite fast. I definitely deserved a big dinner, just saying ;)
