01. Asprokavos - Arkoudilas

After meeting up in Igoumenitsa on the mainland and having a nice lunch together, we take one of the numerous ferries to Corfu. We arrive in the small Lefkimmi harbor near the southern tip of the island about an hour later, where we get lucky and grab the only available taxi. The other option would have been 4 km of walking along the tourist-crowded main street which is completely lined by bars, restaurants and other small businesses catering to the needs of the unbelievable amounts of British hotel tourists. Not a nice sight.
On the first part of the route leading out of town we still meet some tourists with quads and by foot, although it is a lot emptier there (not many people take the trip to Asprokavos beach it seems). Passing a nice viewpoint just above the south cape, we soon reach a ruined monastery and eventually Arkoudilas beach, where we set up our tents to spend the night there.
