06. Agii Deka - Myrtiotissa

Today we are a bit low on food, since the only store we found yesterday in the morning didn't really have anything nice for breakfast, and there were none more for the rest of the day. So our breakfast consists of fresh figs and grapes today (we encountered and harvested a lot of these everyday actually). Anyway, we descend on the northern side of our small mountain into the village Agii Deka, where there is no shop to be found either. Well, we were too lazy to go down to the main road where there might have been something, and as we are sure that there is a shop in Sinarades we just continue on the trail. Nearly all the way to said village we walk on different minor roads and there is not really much to see somehow.

In Sinarades we fill our backpacks with food and water again, the shop in the village square has quite a good selection to offer. Shortly after the village there was supposed to be a restaurant with a nice view and good food, but unfortunately it was closed. Wasn't really clear whether only short-term or indefinitely. However, we continue along the trail until we find a nice spot in some olive grove where we can rest in the shadow of the trees and put up our hammock (did I ever mention that a travel hammock is a very good idea in Greece?).
After lunch we set off to Pelekas, a quite touristy village with some shops and a nice viewpoint. We decide to make the detour (maybe 30 min, shadowless zig-zag road up the hill) to see the "Kaiser's Throne" with our own eyes. The view is certainly good and large parts of Corfu can be seen, so it was probably worth the effort.
Eventually we finish our day by hiking down to Myrtiotissa beach, a small patch of sand between the rocky coast crowded with tourist. After swimming and dinner the beach has finally emptied and we can set up our stuff, enjoy the sunset and have a short night swim with countless stars above.
