05. Vouniatades - Agii Deka

Today is the first day without a single beach along the trail. While that might not sound too good (considering that it's August), the upside is that we will hike on the second highest mountain ("mountain", it's only some 500-600 m high) of Corfu and get some nice views. Also: less to none tourists in the inland.
Anyway, our day starts like any other typical hiking day: getting up with the sunrise, packing stuff while avoiding the last stray moskitos, and setting off quickly to enjoy the cool morning. Hiking is pretty uneventful until we reach Stronggili with its small shop - which doesn't really sell anything of use to us except for water.
Up the hill we go, and around noon we arrive in the beautiful tiny (and therefore also car-free) village Komianata. Just a few minutes further we reach Dafnata, with a beautiful viewpoint just up the hill. For the first time on this hike we can see the highest mountain of Corfu far in the north, the Pantokrator. And Corfu town is quite near too.
We rest for lunch and billard in Kostas Bar Walkers Point, a nice little bar/restaurant. Kostas, the guy who keeps the southern half of the Corfu Trail in order, is unfortunately not there today.
The rest of the day we spend crossing a valley and hiking up the Agii Deka. This three-peaked mountain offers nice campsites and spectacular views in all directions, a proper end to this nice day of hiking!
